LabRATory
A VR game developed in Unreal Engine 4. I developed optimized procedural assets to populate the level. I created other models within the game and particle effects in engine. The game is an escape room, puzzle solver. I placed and set the lighting accordingly to create the unsettling atmosphere, but to also guide the player.

My team and I started development by deciding if we wanted to make a virtual reality game or not. We opted for a VR game, but uncertain what kind of game to make in VR. We decided upon an escape room, survival game. First thing we decided upon is the setting and thought it would be highly entertaining to be on a small scale as a rodent in a lab, therefore our player was now a lab rat. We got to thinking what would fill this environment. I made procedural tools to populate our level with various props such as books, beakers, and pipes. I made some other props as well to help with our scene and atmosphere. The assets I made were optimized with both their topology and UVs. I then tackled the lighting and used my experience of film lighting to contribute to the ambience of the level. I utilized Unreal’s lighting for optimization as well as its in-engine particle effects.
